Hey there!
Saturday has arrived, and your local plans can still be simple. Start with the kind of day you want—browsing, sharing a meal, or exploring a quieter piece of history—then choose an outing that fits. Here are three ways to make room for a discovery today.
Today’s First Coast TriviaIn what year was Fort Matanzas’s fortified watchtower completed?
If you’re heading out this morningThe Amphitheater Farmers Market’s regular Saturday hours are 8:30 AM–12:30 PM. Admission is free, and the organizer asks visitors to bring reusable bags and leave pets at home. Choose one thing to seek out and leave room for something unexpected. Ask a vendor how to use or care for a purchase before bringing it home. Check the official page before traveling for any last-minute changes to the regular session.
Make room for Greek flavorsThe rescheduled Greek Festival begins today, October 17, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 2940 County Road 214. Saturday hours are 11 AM–8 PM; Sunday’s session is 11 AM–5 PM. Free parking and shuttle arrangements are listed at R. J. Murray Middle School, 150 N. Holmes Boulevard. Check the organizer’s latest notice, choose a meeting point if you’re going with friends, and leave some room for a pastry to take home.
A different kind of history outingFort Matanzas protects the southern approach to Saint Augustine’s historic defenses and a coastal setting of marsh, dunes, and forest. The fort visit uses a ferry boarding-pass system, with passes issued on a first-come basis at the park visitor center. There is no park or ferry admission charge, but operating conditions matter. Check current alerts and ferry availability before driving to 8635 A1A South. Bring a flexible plan rather than assuming arrival guarantees a seat.
